Introduction<\/strong><\/p>\n The Department of English Language & Literature offers the undergraduate programme in English which gives students an opportunity to know and appreciate the science of language as well as the literary works of English and to develop literary and linguistic aptitude of their own.\u00a0 The motto \u201cTo teach English; and not to teach about English\u201d lies all through at the back of offering the courses at BAUET. The Bachelor of Arts (BA) programme in English is divided in two lines of specialization: language and literature. The result is that students constantly show up uttermost vehemence to attain English language skills and the zeal of the learners has already proved in ever proliferating one. The programme is recommended for students interested in a strong background in the humanities with a concentration on language and literature. It also enables the graduate to pursue careers in the academic as well as the non-academic world.<\/p>\n Grading System Students\u2019 performance in a course is evaluated as under:<\/p>\n Class attendance and Performance\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a010% Attendance and Class Performance<\/strong><\/p>\n The university has strict rules regarding the issues of attendance in class. All students are expected to attend classes regularly. The university believes that attendance is necessary for effective learning. The Student must also meet all the financial obligations to the Deltin 7 Aviator গেম টাকা ইনকাম to become qualified for the degree. If any student fails in any course he\/she will get the opportunity to improve the grade by retaking the subject in the subsequent semesters like other regular students.<\/p>\n Academic Year and Semesters<\/strong><\/p>\n English calendar year is the academic year for the program. One adviser is to be normally appointed for a batch of students. The adviser advises each student about the courses to be taken in each term by discussing the academic program of that particular term with the students. However, it is also the student\u2019s responsibility to keep regular contact with his\/her adviser who will review and eventually approve the student\u2019s specific plan of study and monitor subsequent progress of the student.<\/p>\n Assessment Methodologies<\/strong><\/p>\n The total performance of a student in a given course is based on a scheme of continuous assessment. For theory courses this continuous assessment is to be made through class tests, class evaluation, class participation, homework assignment and a term final examination. For each course four class tests shall be taken and out of them best three will be considered for grading. The assessment in laboratory\/sessional courses is made through observation of the student at work during the class, viva-voce laboratory hours and quizzes.
