\nThe Machine Tools Lab is one of the most essential and hands-on training facilities in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, BAUET. It serves as a foundation for students to learn the practical aspects of manufacturing processes, machining operations, and workshop safety.<\/p>\n

This facility is designed to introduce students to traditional and precision machining tools used in both educational and industrial settings. Students perform operations such as turning, milling, drilling, shaping, grinding, and fitting under the guidance of experienced instructors and technical staff. It also serves as a foundation for advanced coursework in CNC Machining, Additive Manufacturing, and Design & Prototyping.<\/p>\n

  1. Lathe Machine<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Used for turning, facing, taper cutting, threading, and knurling operations. Helps students understand cylindrical part machining and tool setup.<\/p>\n

    1. Milling Machine<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Enables precise machining of flat, contoured, or complex surfaces. Common applications include gear cutting, slot milling, and shaping of components.<\/p>\n

      1. Shaper Machine<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Demonstrates surface machining using a reciprocating single-point cutting tool. Useful for producing flat surfaces and keyways.<\/p>\n

        1. Pedestal Grinding Machine<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Provides surface finishing and sharpening of tools and components. Reinforces concepts of abrasive machining and tool maintenance.<\/p>\n

          1. Drill Machine<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            Used for hole-making operations such as drilling, reaming, tapping, and counterboring. Teaches students precision in positioning and depth control.<\/p>\n

            1. LASER Machine<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              Introduces students to non-contact, precision-based material processing. Useful for rapid prototyping, cutting thin sheets, and engraving complex patterns.<\/p>\n

              1. 3D Printing Machine<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                Offers exposure to additive manufacturing and rapid prototyping. Students can design and fabricate 3D models directly from CAD software. Promotes innovation, design thinking, and customization of components.<\/p>\n
