It occurs when a patient is clinically ready to be discharged, however, the patient cannot be discharged due to unavailability of other necessary care, support, or accommodation. The consequences of DTOC are high cost, mortality, infections, depression and reductions in patients\u2019 mobility and their ability to undertake daily activities. In this talk, a case study based on an NHS hospital will be discussed to identify DTOC patients at the time of admission.
