The Department of Economics and Sociology is one of the dynamic academic units under the Faculty of Business Administration at Patuakhali Science and Technology Deltin 7 Aviator গেম টাকা ইনকাম. It offers comprehensive education and research opportunities in Economics, Sociology, and their interdisciplinary applications in rural development, business, and social sciences. The department aims to develop students’ analytical, critical, and empirical understanding of economic behavior, social structure, and development dynamics — both locally and globally.

 

History and Location

The department was established with the goal of integrating economic theories and social realities to support the sustainable development of Bangladesh, particularly in the southern coastal region. It is located in the main campus at Dumki, Patuakhali, where classrooms, laboratories, and offices are situated in the Faculty of Business Administration complex.

 

Mission and Vision

Mission:
To provide quality education and research in Economics and Sociology that fosters analytical skills, ethical values, and leadership among students for national and regional development.

Vision:
To become a center of excellence in social and economic research that contributes to the formulation of effective policies for sustainable development in Bangladesh.

 

Academic Programs

The department offers several degree and non-degree programs:

• Undergraduate Programs
  • Bachelor courses include Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Development Economics, Statistics, Research Methodology, Social Theory, Rural Sociology, and Economic Policy, Bangladesh Studies.
• Postgraduate Programs (MS)
  • Advanced studies focusing on Agribusiness and Marketing, Applied Econometrics, Economic Development, Social Research, and Policy Analysis.
  • Includes coursework and thesis/research components.
• Doctoral (PhD) Program
  • Focused on independent, original research in Economics and Sociology and related interdisciplinary fields.

All programs follow PSTU’s semester system, with continuous assessment, research projects, and fieldwork.
