Lab Short Description
The Animal Products and Byproducts Research Laboratory is dedicated to advancing the scientific understanding and technological development of animal-derived foods and their byproducts. The laboratory is equipped with specialized units focusing on meat, milk, egg, and animal byproduct research—each supported by a range of modern analytical and processing equipment. The Meat Research Unit facilitates studies on product formulation, processing optimization, and quality enhancement using equipment such as bowl cutters, grinders, sausage stuffers, and physicochemical analyzers. The Milk and Milk By-products Unit supports research on dairy processing, cream separation, and fermentation, while the Egg Products Unit promotes innovation in egg-based foods. The Animal By-products Unit contributes to the sustainable utilization of secondary animal resources through rendering, fat recovery, and value-added product development. Through these integrated facilities, the laboratory serves as a center for teaching, research, and innovation aimed at improving the safety, quality, and functionality of animal products. It also supports postgraduate and undergraduate research, industrial collaboration, and technology transfer to promote value addition and waste minimization in the livestock sector. Ultimately, the laboratory plays a vital role in strengthening food security, economic growth, and sustainability in the field of animal product technology.
