    Lab Short Description

    The Dairy Science Laboratory at the Department of Dairy Science is a well-equipped laboratory for student demonstration on equipment, utensils, machines and methods used in dairy production, milk harvesting, handling, sampling, transportation, storage, preservation, and analysis; preparation, judging, quality control of market milks, milk drinks, and dairy foods; sanitation of dairy farm and plant and utilisation of dairy byproducts and waste materials. This laboratory is resourceful for conducting contemporary research in the field of sustainable dairy production, milk processing, manufacture, dairy value chain and marketing. It also provides services of conducting chemical composition test of milk and milk products, demonstration of refined manufacturing methods of popular and value-added dairy foods, and detection of adulteration in milk and milk products as a reference laboratory for the community of dairy farmers, dairy input investors, dairy manufacturers, consumers and researchers at large.
