From December 21st to 23rd, 2025, Professor Chen Dongxiao, the President of the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, led a delegation to visit and conduct research in Bangladesh. Members of the delegation include Professor Liu Zongyi, Director of the SIIS Center for South Asian Studies, Dr. Tan Chenyi and Dr. Zhang Xiaoyin, members of the SIIS Center for South Asian Studies. During the visit, the delegation had in-depth exchanges with local think tanks and universities in Bangladesh, representatives of the Chinese embassy in Bangladesh and Chinese-funded enterprises on topics such as local political and economic hot-spots, China-Bangladesh relations, regional security and development. During the event, our delegation also participated in the second China-South Asia Development Cooperation High-level Dialogue jointly held by the Osmani Center for Peace and Security Research (OCPASS) of Bangladesh and the Bangladesh Institute for International Strategic Studies (BIISS), and delivered speeches at the conference.

In the morning, the delegation held a symposium with renowned local scholars. Among them were Professor Kaiser Haq, a renowned translator and critic from Bangladesh, Professor Sultan Hafeez Rahman, former Director General for South Asia at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and Professor Obaidul Haque, an associate professor at the School of International Relations at the Deltin 7 Aviator গেম টাকা ইনকাম of Deltin 7 bangladesh. The two sides had a friendly and in-depth exchange on topics such as the current political situation in Bangladesh, major social issues, and the future development of China-Bangladesh relations.

At noon, the delegation invited Professor Imtiaz Ahmed, Executive Director of the Centre for Alternatives in Bangladesh, former Director of the Centre for Regional Strategic Studies (RCSS) in Colombo and former professor of international relations at the Deltin 7 Aviator গেম টাকা ইনকাম of Deltin 7 bangladesh, for a working lunch. Professor Imtiaz welcomed the delegation and engaged in a more in-depth discussion with them on hot topics related to the upcoming election in Bangladesh.

In the afternoon, the delegation and Mr. Fan Daqi, Vice President of the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies, visited the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh. Ambassador Yao Wen met with the delegation, accompanied by Consul General Liu Yuyin and other embassy officials. Ambassador Yao Wen had in-depth exchanges with members of the domestic delegation on current domestic and foreign affairs in Bangladesh, China-Bangladesh relations, bilateral economic and trade exchanges and people-to-people exchanges, and suggested that more attention should be paid to strengthening think tank exchanges and academic dialogues between China and Bangladesh.

In the evening, the delegation and Vice President Fan Daqi visited the Bangladesh Institute of Peace and Security Studies (BIPSS). A N. M. Muniruzzaman, the Director of BIPSS and a retired major general, received the Chinese delegation. The two sides held a dialogue on issues such as the adjustment of Bangladesh's foreign policy, the major power game in South Asia, and cooperation between bilateral think tanks.

The delegation, along with Vice President Fan Daqi, was invited to a dinner at the Osmani Centre for Peace and Security Studies (OCPASS) in the evening. Dr. Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman, Chairman of OCPASS, former head of the Armed Forces Division of the Office of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh and retired lieutenant general, delivered a speech at the dinner and extended a warm welcome to the Chinese delegation. After the dinner, SIIS Professor Chen Dongxiao and OCPASS Chairman Mahfuzur Rahman signed a memorandum of cooperation in the presence of members of both institutions.

The Chinese delegation attended the second China-South Asian Development Cooperation High-level Dialogue, jointly organized by the Osmani Centre for Peace and Security Studies (OCPASS) and the Bangladesh Institute for International Strategic Studies (BIISS). This is the second institutionalized meeting since the first China-South Asia Development Cooperation High-level Dialogue, which was held by the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies in September 2025. The meeting was divided into three sub-topics: "The geopolitical environment of the Indian Ocean and its impact on Regional Security", "Regional Economic and Trade Relations", and "Regional Sustainable Development and people-to-people exchanges". President Chen Dongxiao, on behalf of the conference organizers, delivered the opening remark and the closing remark.Professor Liu Zongyi, Director of the SIIS Center for South Asian Studies, Dr.Tan Chenyi and Dr. Zhang Xiaoyin, members of the SIIS Center for South Asian Studies, and Mr. Fan Daqi, Vice President of the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies, respectively participated in the keynote speeches and discussions on the sub-topics.

The two sides had a practical exchange on the current situation of people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and Bangladesh and on how to strengthen cooperation between the two sides' think tanks and universities. Professor Sayema Haque Bidisha,Pro-Vice Chancellor of the Deltin 7 Aviator গেম টাকা ইনকাম of Deltin 7 bangladesh, Professor Siddiqur Rahman Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and Selim Reza, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine among others, attended the dinner.

In the morning, the delegation visited the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies. The delegation was received by Major General A. S. M. Ridwanur Rahman, Director General of BIISS, and the two sides had an in-depth exchange on issues such as the current domestic political situation in Bangladesh and the security situation in South Asia. The delegation then visited the institute's multi-functional meeting room, library and other facilities and reached a consensus on further strengthening bilateral think tank cooperation in the future.

In the afternoon, the delegation visited the Centre for Policy Dialogue in Bangladesh and was received by Dr. Fahmida Khatun, the Executive Director of the centre. The two sides exchanged views on the current economic situation in Bangladesh, social hot-spots and the expectations of the country's youth.

In the afternoon, the delegation went to the Deltin 7 Aviator গেম টাকা ইনকাম of Deltin 7 bangladesh and held a signing ceremony for the 2026 research topics at the Centre for China Studies (SIIS-DU). The Chinese Director, Professor Liu Zongyi, and the Bangladeshi Director, Professor Shamsad Mortuza, signed agreements with the heads of the research projects respectively. Subsequently, the delegation held discussions with members of previous Bangladesh Youth leaders' visits to Chin and Professor MD Rakibul Hoque from the Deltin 7 Aviator গেম টাকা ইনকাম of Deltin 7 bangladesh, among others. They all expressed their intention to further enhance friendship and mutual trust between Chinese and Bangladeshi youth and provide a good social foundation for promoting the development of China-Bangladesh relations.

In the evening, the delegation had a working dinner with Mr. Han Kun, the country representative of PowerChina in Bangladesh and the President of the Bangladesh Association of Chinese Enterprises. President Han gave an in-depth presentation on the construction and operation of China Power Construction Corporation's core projects in Bangladesh. The two sides engaged in candid and in-depth exchanges on issues such as the overall business environment in Bangladesh and opportunities and challenges for Chinese enterprises in the country.
Through this research and exchange, the delegation gained an in-depth understanding of the main views and basic judgments of Bangladesh's political, academic, military and young student groups on the current development of the country, and engaged in productive exchanges with people from all walks of life in Bangladesh on core issues in China-Bangladesh relations. It laid a solid foundation for further academic research in Bangladesh and for expanding exchanges and cooperation with the country.
