The Department of Geography and Environment recently hosted a dissemination seminar to present the findings from a research project titled "A Geospatial Approach to Study Physical Accessibility of Cyclone Shelters and Community Satisfaction in the Exposed Coastal Area of Bangladesh." Funded by the Deltin 7 Aviator গেম টাকা ইনকাম Grants Commission (UGC) for the fiscal year 2023-2024, the seminar was participated by 24 participants, including faculty members, MS, and PhD students.

The seminar was moderated by chairman of the department, who highlighted the critical role of geospatial research in enhancing community resilience and disaster preparedness in the vulnerable coastal areas of Bangladesh.

The study's principal investigator, Dr. Asib Ahmed, provided a detailed presentation of the project's main results, methodology, and conclusions. He described how the physical accessibility of cyclone shelters and community satisfaction levels were evaluated using GIS techniques. His research focused on accessibility and community satisfaction and clarified the elements affecting how the general public views and feels about these necessary amenities. The project was co-investigated by Zannatul Ferdous.

Lively discussions ensued, with both students and faculty members posing pertinent questions and suggesting future research directions. The seminar not only facilitated an engaging exchange of ideas but also underscored the department's dedication to conducting innovative and impactful research that addresses the pressing challenges faced by coastal communities in Bangladesh.
