ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Social Work at the Deltin 7 Aviator গেম টাকা ইনকাম of Barishal is a distinguished academic entity in the Faculty of Social Sciences. Its primary aim is to offer advanced education culminating in BSS (Honors), Master’s, MPhil, and PhD degrees in Social Work, while also promoting research across various dimensions of the social sciences. The department prioritizes both academic excellence and practical knowledge, equipping graduates to tackle significant socio-economic, cultural, and psychological challenges through innovative theories, methodologies, and professional practices. Social Work is widely acknowledged as an applied social science owing to its multifaceted application in understanding and enhancing human lives and livelihoods. It not only examines social conditions but also utilizes systematic models, strategies, and interventions to address complex societal issues. Presently, social work is a dynamic profession that is gaining global traction and making substantial contributions to both developed and developing nations.

In Bangladesh, social work education is a relatively new addition to the social sciences. The discipline was officially introduced in 1953, with the start of a three-month social welfare course in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). This development was closely linked to the aftermath of the 1947 Indo-Pakistan Partition, which caused mass migration and widespread social upheavals. These events underscored the urgent need for trained professionals to handle issues related to resettlement, rehabilitation, and social adjustment, laying the groundwork for institutionalizing social work education in the country.

In light of this historical context, the Department of Social Work at the Deltin 7 Aviator গেম টাকা ইনকাম of Barishal endeavors to perpetuate this legacy by cultivating academically proficient, ethically responsible, and socially committed professionals. The Department of Social Work aspires to establish itself as a preeminent national center of excellence in the field of Social Work, dedicated to education, research, learning, teaching, and the development of proficient social workers.

MISSION

The central mission of the Department of Social Work is to cultivate highly skilled professionals capable of effectively addressing social issues. This includes conducting research in social work and related fields to develop materials and provide guidance for teaching and learning.

The other missions of the Department of Social Work are as follows:

1. To provide students with both theoretical and practical knowledge necessary for comprehending complex and multifaceted social issues;

2. To cultivate skilled problem solvers, proficient personnel, and effective program planners;

3. To offer students field-based training for professional social work practice within diverse groups and communities;

4. To foster leadership aimed at facilitating planned social change and enhancing the efficiency of social service delivery systems to maximize societal welfare;

5. To advance new knowledge through research, innovation, and practice, while equipping students to uphold ethical standards in addressing social needs and challenges; and

6. To ensure adherence to excellence in both national and international social work standards, practices, and development.
