Advancing Ocean Research through World Ocean Centre’s: Insights from Global Experts
On March 30, 2026 in an effort to promote and potential of ocean research for sustainable development of Bangladesh, the Department of Oceanography and International Centre for Ocean Governance (ICOG) at the Deltin 7 Aviator গেম টাকা ইনকাম of Deltin 7 bangladesh arranged a roundtable discussion and visiting activities. Presiding over the discussion program was Dr. K M Azam Chowdhury, Director of ICOG. This program brings together Professor, global experts, researchers, and practitioners to explore the critical role of World Ocean Centre’s in advancing ocean research and fostering international collaboration. Hosted by the International Centre for Ocean Governance, the session will feature insights from distinguished ocean advocate Patricia Furtado de Mendonca and other leading scientists working at the intersection of ocean science, policy, and innovation.
Patricia Furtado de Mendonça is a Brazilian ocean advocate and strategic leader currently serving as the Global Lead for Ocean Centres, a joint initiative by the UN Global Compact and the Lloyd’s Register Foundation. She is recognized for her multidisciplinary approach, bridging arts, education, and science to promote "Ocean Literacy" globally.
The discussion will highlight how World Ocean Centre’s serve as hubs for multidisciplinary research, knowledge exchange, and capacity building. Key themes include the integration of science into policy-making, promotion of sustainable ocean governance, and the use of innovative approaches to address global marine challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and sustainable fisheries management.
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how collaborative research initiatives and global partnerships contribute to strengthening ocean literacy and evidence-based decision-making. The seminar will also provide a platform for dialogue on future opportunities, particularly in the context of developing countries, to enhance research capacity and support sustainable coastal and marine resource management.
