Professor Dr. S. M. Hemayet Jahan is a distinguished academic and researcher currently serving as a Professor in the Department of Entomology. He obtained his Ph.D. in Insect Molecular Physiology, with a particular research focus on the relationship between plant viruses and their insect vectors.
Throughout his academic career, Professor Jahan has made significant contributions to the field of Entomology, especially in areas such as Integrated Pest Management (IPM), insect ecology, and insect biology. His extensive research has deepened the scientific understanding of pest–plant–environment interactions and contributed to the development of sustainable pest control strategies.
Under his expert supervision, numerous MS and PhD students have successfully completed their research on various aspects of insect pest management, employing innovative and eco-friendly tactics. Professor Jahan’s guidance has helped shape a new generation of entomologists dedicated to advancing agricultural sustainability and crop protection.
With his strong academic background, research excellence, and commitment to student mentorship, Professor Dr. S. M. Hemayet Jahan continues to play a pivotal role in advancing the discipline of entomology and contributing to sustainable agricultural practices.
