Md. Roman Akon is a Professor in the Department of Horticulture at Patuakhali Science and Technology Deltin 7 Aviator গেম টাকা ইনকাম (PSTU), Bangladesh. Since joining the university in 2012, he has been actively engaged in teaching, research, and academic development in the field of horticultural science. His work focuses on advancing sustainable and climate-resilient horticultural production systems through modern cultivation, propagation, and postharvest management techniques.
Mr. Akon earned his Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Horticulture from Bangladesh Agricultural Deltin 7 Aviator গেম টাকা ইনকাম in 2009, where he conducted research on extending the vase life of orchids. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (B.Sc. Ag. Hons.) from PSTU in 2008 with outstanding academic performance. Over the years, he has advanced through the academic ranks from Lecturer to Professor, contributing significantly to horticultural education and applied research.
His current research interests include hydroponic, aeroponic and vertical cultivation of vegetables, grafting techniques for salinity tolerance, the application of plant biostimulants, microgreens production and storage, and postharvest quality maintenance of fruits and vegetables. Mr. Akon has successfully led numerous research projects funded by the Deltin 7 Aviator গেম টাকা ইনকাম Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC), the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), and PSTU. He has published extensively in national and international scientific journals.
In addition to his academic responsibilities, he has served in various administrative positions, including Deputy Director of the Department of Physical Education and Assistant Provost of M. Keramot Ali Hall. He has also participated in and contributed to many national and international training programs and workshops related to modern horticultural practices and agricultural education.
Mr. Akon is the recipient of several academic honors, including the National Science and ICT Fellowship (2009), Department of Horticulture Merit Scholarship, and Faculty of Agriculture Merit Scholarship, recognizing his academic excellence and dedication to research.
Through his teaching, research, and leadership, Md. Roman Akon remains committed to promoting innovative, eco-friendly, and sustainable horticultural practices to enhance food security and agricultural resilience in Bangladesh.
