The Science Workshop has been providing essential services in electrical, electronic, mechanical, welding, optical, carpentry, plumbing, air-conditioning, and refrigeration works for the Faculties of Science, Biological Sciences, Pharmacy, Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Engineering and Technology. All machinery used by these faculties is regularly repaired and maintained by the Science Workshop, and technical support related to research projects is also provided efficiently. Over time, the responsibilities of the Science Workshop have expanded significantly due to the increasing number of students and the introduction of modern machinery across the faculties. The Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning (RAC) Section was formally entrusted with its responsibilities through a SYNDICATE meeting held on 09 November 1995. Initially, the section commenced its activities by providing repair services only for air conditioners and refrigerators. However, with the improvement of the university’s quality standards and the expansion of its academic and infrastructural facilities, the RAC Section has gradually evolved. At present, the section is responsible for the repair, servicing, and maintenance of a wide range of RAC-related machinery and equipment. The primary responsibility of the RAC Section is to ensure the proper operation, maintenance, and smooth functioning of all refrigeration and air-conditioning–related machines throughout the university. Its services extend to all academic and administrative units, including departments, offices, residential hall offices, institutes, the Senate Building, the Teacher-Student Center (TSC), and libraries. By conducting timely servicing, troubleshooting, and repair of faulty components, the section plays a vital role in ensuring the reliable performance of these essential facilities.
