A core programme activity of the Centre is academic publishing. CARSS regularly publishes peer-reviewed scholarly journals in both English and Bengali, namely Perspectives in Social Science and Probandhabali. These journals provide an important platform for faculty members and researchers to disseminate original research findings, theoretical analyses, and critical reflections in the field of social sciences. The Centre also supports the publication of monographs, edited volumes, and research-based books, thereby contributing to the wider dissemination of knowledge and scholarly debate.
The Centre regularly organizes research seminars, lectures, conferences, workshops, and panel discussions on contemporary and emerging issues in the social sciences. These programmes provide a platform for faculty members, researchers, and students to present ongoing and completed research, exchange ideas, and engage in critical academic dialogue.
CARSS supports policy-oriented and interdisciplinary research initiatives focusing on Bangladesh’s economic, social, administrative, and political development. It facilitates collaborative research among departments within the Faculty of Social Sciences and promotes interaction with national and international scholars and research institutions.
The Centre is actively involved in research capacity-building through training programmes, workshops, and academic orientation sessions for faculty members and research students. It also supports dissemination of research findings through publications, seminar proceedings, and public lectures.
In addition, CARSS promotes academic exchange and outreach by hosting visiting scholars, arranging invited lectures by distinguished national and foreign academics, and facilitating research. Through these programmes and activities, the Centre contributes to strengthening research culture, advancing knowledge production, and enhancing scholarly engagement in the social sciences.
