This is an elementary course for the new students of the Urdu Department. This course introduces the students with Urdu Alphabets, Words & Sentences. In this course, students will learn the Urdu reading and writing and speaking system. They will also read some Lessons, which are written about the history of places, short history of Urdu language, life of some prominent Urdu writers, Morality, Culture etc.

This course is intended to expose the students to as many aspects of Urdu language learning as possible. It covers Urdu grammar in its entirety through reading comprehension.

Course Objectives:

The objective of the course is to foster the ability of the students in reading, writing and speaking and also to lay a strong foundation from which students can ultimately go on reading the books in Urdu and understand them.

For the convenience of the students, Urdu grammar has been arranged in dialogue form; in this way the student can learn not only Urdu grammar but also develop the skill in Urdu language which is spoken in every day life.

Prose is a very easy way for learning a language. For this reason, this course is designed to make the students acquainted with Urdu Prose so that they are able to learn the Urdu language easily. This course has been designed with fourteen poems featuring individual content. In order to introduce Urdu literature to the students who are studying in the Department of Urdu, Some primary Urdu poems have been included in this course so that the students can easily get a basic idea about Urdu Poetry.

Course Description:

Learning grammar structure and understanding their meaning and function is a process that occurs over an extended period of time. While there are instances when students may use grammar structures competently in a short period of time, often, it will take more than one semester for students to learn to use grammar structures appropriately. And learning translation from Urdu to Bengali and Bengali to Urdu.

• Students will be able to recognize and understand the meaning of targeted grammatical structures in written and spoken form.
• Students will be able to use targeted grammatical structures meaningfully and appropriately in oral and written production.

Influence of Persian:

To teach the students how the Persian literature continues to preserve its influence on Urdu literature and the lovers of texts in Farsi look at them as golden sheets of treasure. In this course we will refer to the extent of interest shown in the prose and verse of Persian literary subjects on Urdu literature.

The similarities and relationship between the Persian literature and Urdu literature originating from a single route is quite apparent. 

With regard to literature too should we make a fair comparison of Persian literature with a major part of the subcontinent's literature, we will see many works in Urdu literature fully influenced by Farsi texts or translation of Farsi texts. For example such an influence is quite visible in Urdu verse, prose, fiction and non-fiction. Existence of over 60 percent of Farsi terms in Urdu.
